Israel mentioned their efforts to protect civilians from airstrikes

World Today

Much of the war between Israel and the Palestinian factions in Gaza was fought from the air. Rockets fired from Gaza and missiles fired on Gaza. The Israeli military was criticized for its heavy-handedness and for the high Palestinian death toll brought on by airstrikes. The government said it did its best to avoid civilians’ deaths. CCTV America’s Roee Ruttenberg reports.

The war may be over, but for some people working in the military, their job is still not finished. For example, a 22-year-old Israeli air force sergeant, whose identity is protected, collects surveillance images from the skies over Gaza all the year round.

During the last 7 weeks of fighting, these assessments helped the military decide where and when to strike. High-resolution images showed who’s a target and when not to launch missiles. The intelligence they gathered is transmitted to headquarters in real-time.

Some people said that the eye-in-the-sky has changed the way the war is waged for the better.
