US-led coalition against IS continues in Iraq, Syria

U.S. and coalition aircraft from three Arab nations continued their airstrikes on the Islamic State targets in Syria. For the first time, they dropped bombs on IS fighters moving in on the besieged town of Kobani along the Syrian-Turkish border, where outgunned Kurdish fighters are under attack by IS militants. CCTV America’s Sean Callebs reports more details on the fight against IS.

President Obama said U.S. intelligence underestimated the strength of the Islamic State, as it took form and grew into a power during the chaos that erupted in Syria after the Arab Spring.

As the U.S.-led coalition gains strength, criticism of the Islamic State’s violence in Syria and Iraq grows.
