Immigrant children challenges: Educating undocumented kids in the US

One of the most divisive issues in America today is cost of educating undocumented immigrant children with U.S. tax dollars.

More than one out of every ten unaccompanied immigrant minors will enter school this year in Texas, where most of kids hail from Central America. CCTV’s Ginger Vaughn reports in Houston.

According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, nearly 37,000 unaccompanied immigrant children will have enrolled in U.S. public schools this year-at a cost more than three-quarters of a billion dollars.

Texas is the destination for around 14 percent of them-the highest number in the U.S.
