Spanish health officials said there are signs of hope for a nurse infected with Ebola, even though she remains seriously ill. CCTV America’s Roee Ruttenberg reports from Madrid.
The panic swept over much of the Spanish capital last week when doctors confirmed a nurse had contracted Ebola locally. This panic now appears to have subsided as Spain’s annual Armed Forces Day Parade drew thousands of people to the streets including the new Spanish king.
Just days ago, many Spanish citizens said they preferred to stay indoors or away from large crowds, as the Spanish government vowed to contain the first contraction of the virus in Europe.
A special committee set-up by Spain’s prime minister to deal with the country’s Ebola crisis is also dealing with criticisms of Spain’s hospitals from visiting European health officials.
The European Center for Disease Control will release its report during the week. Spain hopes it will be enough to convince people that the measures in place are working.
