Ukrainians will vote this weekend in a key parliamentary election, however rebel-held regions are boycotting the vote which will skew results. The conflict is not only dividing the country, but families as well. CCTV America’s Kate Parkinson reports.
Fighting in eastern Ukraine has killed more than 3,700 people, and tens of thousands have been displaced. However, many people have stayed because they support the pro-independence movement, or have nowhere else to go.
Ukraine is already a country that is deeply divided and the gulf is only going to get wider after Sunday’s elections. The conflict in the east risks splitting the country in two as well as splitting up families who are already divided both geographically and politically.
