The president of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani, and Chinese President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People on Tuesday where they signed a series of cooperation documents and released a joint statement on the China-Afghanistan strategic partnership. CCTV’s Ai Yang reports.

Ghani was sworn in as Afghanistan’s new president in late September in country’s first ever fully-democratic power transition. He chose China for his first official state visit. It’s a visit that’s been highly anticipated by both sides.

During his stay in Beijing, Ghani will attend the multilateral meeting of the Istanbul Ministerial Process, an agenda for regional cooperation between Afghanistan and its neighbors.
