Thousands marched through Peru’s capital of Lima, where the U.N. Climate Change Conference is being held, on Wednesday to bring attention to the issue of climate change and the urgency of finding a solution.

The 190 nations in attendance are working to lay the groundwork for talks that will take place next year in Paris. CCTV America’s Stephen Gibbs reports on the implications that these meetings will have on the conference in Paris in 2015.

At UN Climate Change conference leaders lay groundwork for 2015 Paris talks

Thousands marched through Peru's capital of Lima, where the U.N. Climate Change Conference is being held, on Wednesday to bring attention to the issue of climate change and the urgency of finding a solution. CCTV America's Stephen Gibbs reports.

Some developing countries called for a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to a net zero by 2050. It is an ambitious goal, and many oil-producing nations favor more long-term goals.

The presidents of Peru, Chile, Colombia and Mexico called on the world to do more to stop global warming. As members of the Latin American trade bloc Pacific Alliance, they all made voluntary pledges to cut emissions and contribute to a global climate fund.
