Job Henning of Truman Project discusses Ukraine vote to drop neutral status

Ukraine’s parliament has renounced the country’s non-aligned status, with the aim of moving closer toward NATO. The bill passed easily, with nearly unanimous support.

However, Ukraine is unlikely to join NATO anytime soon. Many members of the alliance are resistant to backing the action which is likely to anger Russia.

Ties between Moscow and Kiev are at an all-time low as Russia continues to back rebels in eastern Ukraine.

CCTV America interviewed Job Henning, a fellow at the Truman National Security Project, about the latest vote and what that will mean for the region.
