Jackie and Wayne, a soon-to-be-married couple from Hong Kong in their twenties, have paid about $4,000 to take their pre-wedding photos on a TV show set in South Korea. The bride-to-be thought this was the perfect setting for their once-in-a-lifetime wedding shots.
“So when we first met, our first trip was to Korea so we thought it would be a good idea to have our wedding pictures in Korea,” he said. “And also because this drama’s been really popular in Asia and we really like the backdrop, so we thought it would be a good idea to get our pictures done there.”
The pair re-enacted scenes from “My Love from the Star,” a romantic comedy about the relationship between a top actress and her alien boyfriend. With hair and makeup still intact, the couple also has the signature “chicken and beer” combo for dinner, just like the heroes from the soap.
An estimated 10,000 couples from outside of Korea, mostly of Chinese ethnicity, go to South Korea to have their wedding photo shoots done. Companies like HowToMarry provide customized packages.
The couple had been up since dawn to get their makeup and hair done by stylists in Seoul’s upscale Gangnam district. They travelled light, as everything from attire, jewelry, and props were taken care of.
Jackie and Wayne still have 11 months to go until they officially tie the knot. But these glamorous pictures will be on display at their wedding to show off their special South Korean fairy tale moments.
