Colombian ambassador: “The hard part will come after the peace agreements”

In the last few years Colombia’s economy has seen sustained growth and increased foreign investment. Although recent falling oil prices have taken a toll on its performance, the country still seems to fare better than most of its regional neighbors when it comes to navigating the current economic conditions. Still, some voices are warning about a possible “Colombian bubble.”

The country is also in peace talks with the FARC, the oldest guerrilla group in the world, an historic step that could have a considerable impact on its economy.

Elaine Reyes sat down with Luis Carlos Villegas, Colombian ambassador to the United States and former representative for the government in the peace talks, to discuss these issues.
