The day a child is born should be a joyous one, but it can also be the most dangerous. More than a million children die on their first day according to the charity Save the Children. Nearly all newborn and maternal deaths occur in developing countries, due to a lack of access to basic healthcare before, during and after delivery. Taking care of new mothers is key to a child’s success and it can be expensive. CCTV’s Rachelle Akuffo has more.
