CCTV America’s Rachelle Akuffo interviewed physician Bertalan Mesko and author of “The Guide to the Future of Medicine” about new advances in technology and medicine and patient-doctor interactions and asked him one more question about what it means to be a medical futurist.
“When I was six years old, I decided that I wanted to be medical doctor focusing on genetics. And when I reached this childhood dream at the age of 27, I felt that my geek self was left out of the picture, the geek self that loves technologies. So I found out that the only way to use and combine my doctor self, my researcher self, and my geek self, is by creating a new profession called medical futurists,” Mesko said.
“And my long term mission as a medical futurist is to break down the ivory tower of medicine, and put medical professionals and patients on the absolute same level. To be in a partnership.”
