CCTV America’s Zou Yun interviewed International Monetary Fund Chief Economist Olivier Blanchard and asked him one more question about whether lower than expected growth within emerging economies are an indication of stagnation.
“I think it’s nothing to worry too much about. Potential growth moves is not always constant. [It] has been very high for a while, it’s a bit lower because of aging, because of a slowdown in productivity growth. Again the numbers are not such as… It’s not catastrophic at all. People have used the word stagnation — we are very very far from that. Growth rates remain fairly high, but a bit lower than they used to be. The adjustment has to be made,” Blanchard said.
