Tai Shan, Washington, D.C.’s “favorite panda” celebrated his 10th birthday Thursday at the Dujiangyan panda base in China.
His birthday “cake” was a frozen blend of fruits and veggies, topped with a 10 made out of carrot. Tai Shan was born at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., and returned to China in 2009. “Happy Birthday” was sung to him in Mandarin and then again in English, according to the Washington Post.
His keepers hope of of his next big milestones will include him turning into a father, as pandas have a notoriously low mating rate.
