A 23-year-old street artist from Argentina is painting the town red – and other colors too. Her name is Fio Sliva. She is an emerging talent and her work can be seen in Buenos Aires and its suburbs.
Buenos Aires is home to a vibrant “street art” culture. Across the city, walls are decorated by many local artists and also internationally-recognized painters who travel to the Argentine capital.
Fio recently won a talent competition run by The Spring Projects, a platform that helps develop street artists. Since her return from painting in Europe her career has taken off.
She says she likes painting in Latin America because it’s easier “getting walls.”
Argentinians who see her art want her to paint on their streets too and help beautify their neighborhoods.
The Spring Projects competition is looking for more artists like Fio Silva to develop. It is also searching for a public art “idea” to sponsor. That idea can be located anywhere in the world.
Check out this week’s Urban Voice, Fio Silva. And see her career surface on the streets of Buenos Aires.
