The leader of PLA air formations, General Chang Dingqiu, said they are well prepared for China’s military parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII.
“I have full confidence that the display will reach our expectations. Our preparations have mainly focused on three areas: research and planning, strict training and team work cooperation,” said Chang, who will be leading a fighter jet group over Tiananmen Square on Sept. 3.
Meanwhile, the general said that their target for the parade is total accuracy, even though some formations will be shown for the first time.
To achieve that goal, he explained that it heavily relies on pilots’ flying experience, strict training, and advanced equipment.
Chang said that weather won’t be a major factor and added that they’ve taken every possible measure to ensure safety, including how to retreat in case of emergency and where to retreat.
“This is the result of the overall upgrading of capabilities throughout the routine training over the past years to meet real combat situations. It’s a reflection of the growing strength of today’s PLA. This parade will further boost the Air Force’s development,” he said.
