A wild giant panda was found stealing honey from a local bee farm in Baoxing county of Sichuan Province on Tuesday.
Given its noble status in China, local government officials were less worried about the crime and more concerned about the panda being harmed. Specialists were soon called in to care for any possible bee stings.
Local villagers said the panda appeared not to be afraid of human beings. The animal left the apiary after it dug open 10 beehives.
Wu Ping, a local government official, said such incidents are not uncommon in the area, and wild pandas will always be under the close watch of animal experts.
