The World Health Organization is calling for $56 million to fight the next front in the Zika virus outbreak.

The countries and territories where Zika has been reported, confirmed, or where reports of antibodies in people were reported prior to 2015.

CCTV’s James Chau spoke exclusively with the head of WHO at its headquarters in Geneva.

Dr. Margaret Chan said the biggest victims will be the poor and warned pregnant women again to think twice before traveling to affected areas.

Brazil and the U.S. are joining forces to fight the Zika virus. Representatives from both countries met Thursday in Brasilia to assess the situation in the epicenter of the outbreak.

They also laid the groundwork for a visit from U.S. researchers. And Brazil announced it is now requiring mandatory reporting of all cases of the virus across the country.
