The Hollywood Walk of Fame, where the stars of well-known figures in the entertainment industry are on permanent display on the sidewalk, is one of the most popular go-to places for tourists in Los Angeles. Lately, one star in particular has been getting a lot of attention.
CCTV America’s May Lee reports from Hollywood, California.
On the Hollywood Walk of Fame, most visitors take a simple photo of their favorite stars, but every once in a while, a star becomes a target. Now it’s Donald Trump, who received a star in 2007 for his work on the reality television show, “The Apprentice.”
Ever since Trump began his presidential bid, some have expressed their disdain by defacing his star. Vandals painted a mute icon, a swastika, and a dog even relieved itself on Trump’s star.
Some are surprised that Trump got a star in the first place.
While more than 40,000 people have signed a petition to remove it, Trump’s star will stay put.
According to Leron Gubler, president and CEO of Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, “the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a registered historic landmark. Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
