There is no shortage of international festivals and conferences that bring people together to discuss today’s most pressing issues and set trends. The annual Aspen Ideas Festival, however, is perhaps one of the unique amongst these forums as it showcases a diverse group of speakers and themes.
The week-long festival is organized by The Aspen Institute and unfolds in the shadow of the Colorado’s breath-taking Rocky Mountains. The festival’s speakers are made up of thought-leaders from a wide array of industries, policymakers, prominent politicians, innovators, philanthropists, artists from all disciplines, authors, scientists and individuals on the cutting edge of the “next big idea”. Speakers and attendees from all around globe converge on the picturesque grounds of the Aspen Meadows Resort for the opportunity to engage in conversation-packed seminar sessions and roundtables that explore a variety of ideas along several program tracks.
This year’s program tracks (or festival themes) included everything from “The Choice 2016” to “The Power of Connectivity” and “Sex in America”. The laid-back atmosphere of the festival and the caliber of “great minds” exploring even greater ideas created an environment where very powerful people, who may normally be rather guarded in their public discourse, engage in very candid discussions about issues that impact our daily lives – all in pursuit of viable solutions to global challenges.
