At an Apple Conference three years ago, the startup Anki officially started its engine. Anki’s mobile controlled cars were off to the races, becoming one of the holiday’s seasons best-selling toys.
CCTV America’s Mark Niu reports.
Anki never thought of itself as just a remote-control car company. In fact, right from the very beginning, it had a vision of its next product- Cozmo.
While Anki’s cars have 30 parts, Cozmo is an AI-driven pint-size robot with more than 300 components, including three computer processors and computer vision that allow it to recognize objects and faces.
“The end result is a character that feels like he’s alive and actually responding to what’s going on whether he’s playing a game or meeting a new person or just messing around and exploring an environment. The goal is to make him feel like he’s alive,” Anki Co-Founder and CEO, Boris Sofman said.
The $180 Cozmo comes out of the box somewhat like a newborn or a pet.
