Last 3 victims from Chapecoense team plane crash buried

After a mass funeral on Saturday, the three last bodies of the plane crash that claimed most of Brazil’s Chapecoense team, staff, and 20 sport journalists were buried Sunday in Chapeco. CCTV America’s Lucrecia Franco reports.

It was another sad day in Chapeco. The coffins of the three last local victims of Monday’s plane crash in Colombia were draped in the club’s flag and buried in the city’s Jardim do Eden cemetery.

A group of fans sang a song, written before the accident that killed most of the football team, that said ” We are Chape until we die.”

But it was most of the “Chape” team: 19 players – three survived- that had their lives cut short while heading for their first international final of the Copa Sudamericana in Colombia, one of Latin America’s most important football tournaments.

Less than a week ago, the team was chasing a dream, having risen to first division only two years ago. It will now have to begin from zero fans say though many clubs have offered to loan players to the club.

Family, friends and fans gathered here in Chapeco’s cemetery are still in shock but say their beloved team, the pride and glory of this small, will be rebuilt.
