China’s Belt and Road Initiative is working to build opportunities without borders. It’s still in the early stages, but China has said it’s gradually earning global support.
CGTN’s Han Bin reports from Beijing.
The initiative is the combination of a land-based Silk Road Economic Belt and a sea-based 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. It aims to connect trade routes throughout Asia, Africa and Europe, affecting billions of people across the world.
The plan calls for the most comprehensive development projects in human history. In many developing countries, lack of infrastructure is limiting growth.
Kyrgyzstan has neither ports, nor rail networks, and there are few railways. Now the country is building a north-south transport corridor.
The vision of the Belt and Road Initiative is becoming one shared among the countries along its routes. Kyrgyzstan’s transformation is being mirrored elsewhere in the world. Egypt is building industrial zones.
The China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone is undergoing expansion, to draw more companies and create more jobs. For Egypt, cooperation has sped up its industrialization, and the open and unimpeded trade is raising the quality of life.
The Belt and Road Initiative is injecting new vitality into the Eurasian continent.
