Brazil's recession forces public employees to take up second jobs

Brazil has been hard hit with its worse recession in three decades. &nbsp

Among those suffering most economically are state or public employees, some of whom have not been paid in months.

Rio de Janeiro declared a state of financial calamity in June 2016, the political equivalent to bankruptcy, just before hosting the Summer Olympics.

Since then, payments of salaries, pensions and study stipends have often been delayed, forcing some state workers to take on second jobs.

CGTN’s Lucrecia Franco met with Felipe Moreira, Principal dancer at Rio de Janeiro’s famed Municipal Theatre, to find out how he is coping with the situation.
