Lebanon’s Prime Minister plans to return to his country “very soon.” Saad Hariri made the announcement during his first broadcast interview since resigning office while visiting Saudi Arabia.

CGTN’s Youmna Naufal has more.

In the interview with Future TV, which took place in Riyadh, Hariri said he will follow the constitutional process of resignation.

According to Hariri, his decision to resign was not only because of a threat not only on his life, but on his country as a whole.

“What is happening in the region is a threat to Lebanon,” he said. “Especially when we put ourselves in positions that expose the country to economic sanctions. We already know of the U.S. sanctions, but to add to it Arabic sanctions, we have no interest in that.”
