You would think the most famous foreigner in China would be a Hollywood actor or sports superstar, but it may actually be a Canadian named Mark Rowswell; a comedian who speaks Mandarin flawlessly.
In China he’s known as Dashan and has been a household name since his first television appearance on CCTV’s New Year’s Gala in 1989. He went on to make numerous appearances on CCTV and has mastered xiangsheng – a traditional Chinese performing art also known as “crosstalk”. He’s now touring the world with a new solo standup act called “Dashan Live.”
