Short-form micro-theatre becomes a success in Buenos Aires

Americas Now

About a decade ago in the midst of an economic crisis, a group of actors in Spain started something called Micro-theatre. They came up with an idea to put on short plays in smaller spaces with a small audience

Their concept was simple – 15 plays that last 15 minutes in front of 15 audience members inside a 15 square meter room. The format invites creativity, experimentation and is flourishing in cities like Buenos Aires.

Micro-theatre can also be found in Peru, Ecuador and Mexico. The format remains the same, but the actors and directors explore themes reflecting their different cultures and realities.
