Authorities in Southwest China’s Chongqing municipality are investigating this deadly bus accident.
The bus was carrying 15 people on the Second Wanzhou Yangtze River Bridge on Oct. 28, 2018, when it veered into oncoming traffic, collided with a car, and fell 60 meters (197 feet) into the river.
Everyone on board was killed.
Security footage from the bus’s black box shows that a woman had been arguing with the bus driver at the time of the accident.
She struck him, and he struck back, causing the driver to veer off course.
Using sonar technology, the bus was located 71 meters (233 feet) below the surface and 28 meters (92 feet) from where it fell.
More than 20 divers, facing strong undercurrents, were finally able to reach the bus and salvage it on Oct. 31, 2018.
So far 13 bodies have been recovered.
