The United Nations estimates that some 2.6 million Venezuelans have left their homeland in the last couple of years. But experts believe that number may be double. Ecuador’s government says it’s granted 90,000 temporary residencies with roughly 40,000 applications under consideration.

They discussed his country’s transit-nation role in the region for Venezuelans.
They also talked about Ecuador’s cooperative relationship with neighboring countries in the fight against crime.
