A Mexican man using famous personalities to make pinatas

Americas Now

The pinata has been a longstanding part of many cultures worldwide.

In Mexico these days it’s at the center of birthday parties. Coming in all shapes and sizes, party guests take turns hitting the pinata with a stick in order to break it open and grab the candies and gifts hidden inside.

In the border town of Reynosa, a pinata maker has thought of new ways to expand this Mexican tradition – by offering new characters.

Meet our Urban Voice, Dalton Ramirez.

Dalton’s signature pinatas have not only gained a lot of attention in Mexico but in the United States as well. In fact he says he would like to open a shop across the border in the near future.
