Faces of unemployment: Theater workers

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, theaters and their workers have been hit particularly hard by the lockdown. From performance artists, to technicians, ushers, and script writers, theater workers in general were among the first group of people to lose their jobs, and their prospects for recovery still remain uncertain.

Organizations, like “Theatre Bay Area”, have set up relief funds to benefit theater workers, including some who were not able to claim unemployment benefits.

Our correspondent Ediz Tiyanşan has spoken to an artist, who’s been relying on these funds to make ends meet.
