The Coronavirus pandemic has brought huge economic uncertainty to countries across the globe. And for many Venezuelan migrants it has presented them with a tough decision: To leave the place where they have re-located or return home to a country that is broken.
Venezuelans migrated to neighboring countries seeking to build a better future for themselves and their families. The circumstances surrounding their massive migration were complicated but over time many made the decision to depart. They could plan where to go and how to do so.
But then, the COVID-19 pandemic came and destroyed, in weeks, what it took them years of sacrifice to build.
Correspondent Michelle Begue got the opportunity to talk with several Venezuelan migrants in Colombia – the ones who decided to stay and those who were forced to leave. This is her story.
