Eight months have passed since New York City was at the epicenter of the global coronavirus pandemic.
After a quiet summer, it’s now facing its second wave. Its schools have closed to in-person instruction and the expectation is that it’s just a matter of time before its gyms, bars and indoor dining will also be shut.
Hospitals are bracing for an influx of patients. But this time around, there’s a sense that they won’t be quite as overwhelmed as they were in the first wave.
