Cubans have been living under a U.S. economic embargo for 60 years. It was imposed in February 1962 and there is no indication that it will be lifted anytime soon.
The blockade has been denounced by Cubans who say it has severely hurt the island nation’s economy. But, over the decades the U.S. has persisted with the policy insisting that Havana must improve its record on human rights.
