New report finds Hollywood’s diversity improves

It was seven years ago when the Academy Awards were nominated for all white actors for two consecutive years. 

And just a year ago when it was revealed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association hadn’t had a single black member for nearly two decades.

Every film award season in the United States leads to questions about lack of diversity in Hollywood. 

In a bi-annual report, a group of researchers at UCLA are keeping tabs on the level of representation by each demographic group within the film industry. And their latest reports suggest things may have been changing.
