New York City is bracing for a sixth wave of COVID-19 infections as the highly contagious BA.5 Omicron variant continues to spread.
But several years into the pandemic there’s a growing reluctance from both the public and public officials to see the reintroduction of restrictive health measures.
Instead, the city hopes a greater availability of convenient testing options and treatment plans will keep the virus in check.
