World Polio Day begins amid state of emergency in New York over virus

October 24 is recognized as World Polio Day across the globe and while a vaccine has been produced to combat this virus, it has yet to be fully eradicated. 

In the United States, there has been a resurgence of polio cases, especially in the state of New York, which has recently entered its seventh week of a state of emergency because of this virus. 

CGTN’s Benji Hyer reports more on World Polio Day and the ongoing struggle to eliminate the virus once and for all.
