Homeless in America: Struggling to survive in D.C.

The United States is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, but nearly every major American city struggles with homelessness. It’s a problem with no easy answers.

It’s not easy for many homeless people to hold down a job or live in a shelter. In Washington, D.C. there are generally empty shelter beds each night.

CGTN’s Jim Spellman spoke to a woman living on the streets of Washington D.C.
