June 8th is World Ocean Day, and activists across the globe are gathering to take a moment to think about what humanity can do to protect marine health and biodiversity.

In Rio de Janeiro, hundreds took to one of the city’s most polluted beaches to “embrace the ocean” and draw attention to the risk marine ecosystems are facing.
