Homeless crisis in Los Angeles

The U.S. city of Los Angeles is home to the second largest homeless population in the country and city officials have failed for years address the issue by increasing the supply of affordable housing.

A new program introduced by the mayor now aims to convert a number of hotels and motels across the city into temporary shelters, but it remains unclear whether it will address the root cause of the problem.
