July 17th is Forest Protection Day in Brazil.

While Brazil is known worldwide for its Amazon rainforest, conservations are paying special attention this year to the country’s other tropical forest teeming with diverse but threatened plant life the Atlantic Forest.

It’s also where you’ll find the tree that lent the country its name.
