Hollywood is locked in its biggest standoff in decades, as film and television actors joined writers on the picket lines.  In addition to better pay and working conditions, artists are demanding certain guarantees when it comes to residuals, a form of royalties paid to them when their work is reused or rebroadcast.

With the rise of streaming platforms, many studios have changed how they handle this type of profit sharing.
