Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s tourism capital, has officially joined the World Tourism Cities Federation, becoming the 18th South American city to be part of the Beijing-led organization.

City officials say the membership is a unique opportunity for the so-called “Marvelous City” to attract more Chinese tourists – the world’s biggest spenders, according to the UN.
