California proposes new strategy for helping the homeless

With more than 171,000 homeless people on its streets, the state of California is home to nearly a third of the entire homeless population across the United States.

The state has spent more than $20 billion in recent years to help them, but failed to address the growing crisis.

Earlier this month, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom signed two major proposals that aim to transform California’s strategy for providing mental health services and getting people off its streets.
