U.S. states weigh more abortion cases and policy

The future of abortion access across large swaths of the American Mountain West could be decided this week.

The Supreme Courts of Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, and Wyoming are all weighing cases that could determine how much access – if any – a woman will have to the procedure.

It’s the complicated, often messy, aftermath of last year’s overturning of Roe v. Wade – the 1973 landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that protected American women’s rights to an abortion. The Supreme Court threw the issue back to U.S. states to decide.
