NASA ends Mars helicopter mission

World Today

The U.S. space agency NASA has announced that a tiny helicopter on Mars can no longer fly and its mission on the planet has ended after 72 flights over a period of three years.

Space officials say the helicopter, named Ingenuity, damaged a rotor blade during a flight this month. But during the helicopter’s historic journey on Mars, NASA says it surpassed all expectations.
