Black-owned businesses still face systemic disadvantages

The number of Black-owned businesses in the United States is disproportionately low relative to population size, according to a recent report from the Brookings Institution.

While the pandemic and movement for social justice in 2020 created an uptick in growth in the sector, the report found Black-owned businesses face external pressures such as gentrification and systemic generational disadvantages.
