An average of nearly six homeless people died every day on the streets of Los Angeles, California, in 2022. That’s according to latest report by the County’s Public Health Department, which also shows a 300 percent increase in the mortality rates within the city’s unhoused population over the past 10 years. But the number of drug overdoses, which continues to be the leading cause of death, hasn’t seen a significant increase.
