Texas establishes military base at southern border

World Today

Texas has set up a new permanent military base along the U.S.-Mexico border. Some 300 National Guard troops deployed there on Friday, with hundreds more to follow in the coming months. It’s part of the governor’s Operation Lone Star – a border security initiative meant to crush illegal migration.

Border security has become a top issue this election season – with reports that President Biden will issue a major clampdown on migrants as soon as Tuesday, June 4.
