U.S. Surgeon General calls for nation to act on gun violence among teens

For the fourth consecutive year, gun related injuries in the United States have not returned to pre-pandemic levels following a huge Covid-era spike, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The worst rates are amongst teens and young adults, with the largest increase in firearm injuries coming from those even younger: children and adolescents. Recent figures from the FBI also show that active shootings targeting the American public rose dramatically in past years to their highest levels. In the wake of this, the nation’s top public health official is calling on the country to act. Benji Hyer reports.
